Great is thy mercy, and my tongue
Shall those sweet wonders tell
O Lord, you are so good and kind, so ready to forgive, so full of mercy for all who ask your aid.
His righteousness is gone before
To give us free access to God;
Our wand’ring feet shall stray no more,
But mark his steps and keep the road
Revive our dying graces, Lord,
And let thy saints in thee rejoice;
Make known thy truth, fulfil thy word;
We wait for praise to tune our voice.
I will hear what God the Lord will speak,
For He will speak peace
To His people and to His saints
Great God, attend, while Zion sings
The joy that from thy presence springs:
To spend one day with thee on earth
Exceeds a thousand days of mirth.
Blest are the men whose hearts are set
To find the way to Zion’s gate;
God is their strength, and through the road
They lean upon their helper God.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
Then shall the nations know
That glorious, dreadful word,
Jehovah is thy name alone,
And thou the sovereign Lord
That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord,
Are the Most High over all the earth
I have called you all “gods” and “sons of the Most High.”
They know not, Lord, nor will they know;
Dark are the ways in which they go;
Their name of earthly gods is vain,
For they shall fall and die like men
